What do they mean?
We give these points out for children based on a variety of agreed characteristics and for general learning and behaviour rewards. Children earn points which can be seen at home and later used to collect prizes and certificates. These are in class
Selected by Teachers
These awards are given to children for something...awesome! We select individuals based on their effort, progress or attainment in any area of learning across school. We celebrate these awesome awards during our celebration assemblies (usually every other week) which parents are invited to.
Habits of Mind
Selected By Teachers
Each half term we focus on a new 'habit of mind' and children who display these characteristics are recognised through certificates that are awarded each celebration assembly! For more information please see HABITS OF MIND.
Selected by Children
The week starts with children wearing special jumpers and sitting in a special place during assemblies in the week. At the end of the week, we celebrate their achievements and swap special jumpers for special certificates.
Selected by the Headteacher
Now these awards are VERY special. As teachers work through the half-term they place golden stars in pupils books when they feel the piece of learning is the result of hard work, determination and improvement.
The last week of the half-term begins with a special staff meeting where all staff bring their 'star pieces' to Mr Mitton which he looks through (he really does!) and selects the best two pieces to go in a golden frame and placed outside his office in the reception area for the next half-term!
When the half-term is over, parents are given the framed pieces as a congratulatory piece to retain forever. These pieces are stunning and we hope to post photos here soon!
Earned by Children
These are given at the end of each full term, each time a child receives attendance of 97%+ they receive a special award to celebrate their good attendance!
To ensure this is fairly executed, where a child has a complex medical condition and receives treatment or appointments, we will take this into consideration.
Any child (or staff member) who receives 100% attendance throughout the year is invited to an end of year celebration!
