Uniform & Equipment

Principles

  1. All students should wear their uniform when attending school, when representing the school or when participating in an event organised by the school outside of school hours. Some visits, e.g. day trips and residential trips, do not require students to wear school uniform – this will be at the discretion of the teacher responsible for the visit.

  2. We ask all parents who send their children to Oakfield to ensure they comply with this policy. Parents are expected to send their children to school dressed correctly, ready for their studies, ensuring that the uniform is clean and in good repair.

  3. All staff in Oakfield will support the School Uniform Policy by promoting and maintaining high expectations with regards to uniform and appearance in lessons.

  4. The Trust is responsible for implementing the School Uniform Policy. It liaises with the Headteacher to ensure that the policy is implemented.

  5. Oakfield welcomes children from all backgrounds and faith communities. If any parents would like the School to modify the uniform policy (e.g. on religious grounds), they should make a written representation in the first instance to the Headteacher - the Governing Body will consider such requests sympathetically. This is equally the case on medical grounds.

Yes please ...

Uniform

Our uniform booklet is available to view at the end of this page.

OWL and P.E. Kits

Children may be able to wear this to school on P.E. days.

Coats

The British weather can be changeable - please ensure your child has at least a waterproof mac in their bags in the warmer months, and a warm coat with them every day in the colder months. They may not be allowed to go out to play if they don't have a coat.

Bags

Please only send small bags. We don't have enough space for large bags in the lockers, and our corridors can become quite overcrowded.

Water Bottles

Please bring in a named water bottle every day. Water only, please (not squash or fizzy drinks).

Lunch Boxes

Our policy on packed lunches is available to read on this webpage.

No thanks ...

Pencil Cases & Personal Stationery

We have everything your child needs in school. Teachers may occasionally give permission for children in Year 5 and Year 6 to bring in their own items as part of a project or to help them 'Be Ready' but no child will be left out if they don't have access.

Trinkets, personal possessions (including lip balms) and toys

These can be lost and cause distractions. For some children, teachers may give permission for a 'transition object' to be brought into school for a short period of time.

Hoop earrings, bracelets, necklaces, rings and other jewellery

These can get caught and must not be worn for safety reasons.

Only two ear-studs are permitted to be worn (one per lobe). Stud earrings must be removed for OWL and PE (or they will not be able to take part).

Mobile Phones, Smart Watches, Cameras & Other Technology

Mobile phones may be sent in with children when they are in Year 5 and 6 if absolutely necessary. These must be handed in at the start of the day and will be returned at the end. Cameras and recording equipment are strictly prohibited.
